Garden Clip

After work at the Drug
Store, Belva would relax by spending some
time in her garden. Erven had helped prepare the space between
the water ditch and the river. Terraces and pathways were built,
and plants and figures were selected to create a Japanese look.
Entrance to the garden was over a curved concrete bridge leading
to many paths. With age came reduced energy, and soon the garden
was reclaimed by nature. Plants died, trees fell, bushes became
overgrown and soon the paths and walls were not easily recognized
by an unfamiliar visitor.
The Japanese garden was reclaimed by Tom Leo and Kay Day along with Tom's
Children Cristie, Nick, and Brian Day during summer of 1994 and 1995,
after many years of neglect and overgrowth. There is much potential here...
however, a garden needs a gardener to remind it of its potential. See
video of garden by clicking on icon at left.
In 1998, Belva underwent surgery to repare a broken ankle and knee replacement.
She returned to her home in Fillmore in July 1998 to rest and mend.

On November 2, 2006 she died in Fillmore, Utah. She is burried in the Fillmore Cemetery.
